So many ways to be a part of it all!
On August 17th, 2014, Bill Mather ran 100 laps around the Hillsborough High School Track on behalf of the families supported by Steps Together. (It was actually 105 laps to make it a full 26.2 marathon distance.) He named his event 100 Laps ofHealing and it was a huge success on many levels. The event raised awareness about Steps Together, awareness about the families we help, it also brought our beneficiaries and community together on the track all while raising $3,000 for our organization. Bill raised funds by flat donations and per lap pledges. Click here to read more about the inaugural 100 Laps of Healing. 2014 PHOTOS
We held the event for the second time on April 12th, 2015. One of the initiatives for our organization in 2015 is grow the number of walkers on our team. We also wanted to share the message that we are a community of people paying it forward through fitness – all levels of fitness! What better place to do that then a track! No start or finish, no specific distance, no getting left behind. Just a community coming together to send a message of love and support to those in our community facing a medical crisis. We added a little wild to make it fun. That day 5,459 laps or 1,364.75 miles were completed by our community and together we raised $13,289! In 2016, the rain poured down on the track and that’s an understatement. The theme became “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to run in the rain.” 3,759 laps were completed in the rain by 249 people… 939.75 miles and we raised over $7,000! LAPS BY PARTICIPANT LIST 2016 PHOTOS
On Sunday, May 7th, 2017, 433 members in our community came together and completed 5,125 laps on the Hillsborough High School track to send a message of love and support to the families assisted by Steps Together…. that’s 1,281.25 MILES! That’s just 334 laps shy of our record. We should also mention that Steps Together received over $4,000 in donations!!!
And from there this event has become tradition for Steps Together and Hillsborough both in it’s epic fundraising and community camaraderie.
